Al Stearns founded Utility Sales Associates in 1991, after a successful career as a Regional Sales Manager in the overhead and underground line construction segment of the Electric Utility Market. Originating in Illinois and Wisconsin, Utility Sales Associates currently represents quality industry-leading manufacturers all over the Midwest, from Nebraska to Ohio. The company's success and growth come from the investment in training our team, building strong relationships with our partners and being proactive in introducing, demonstrating and utilizing the most up-to-date technology available.
In 1996 Steve Cohen came on board as an Office Manager and since transitioned into sales, which lead him to become the VP of Sales. With his acquired experience, Steve manages the sales team as our VP of Sales and is responsible for establishing sales target to meet Utility Sales Associates objectives. His knowledge on building strong relationships at the contractor level and delivering their demand towards the stocking distributors is an asset for the company.
After a 10-year military career with the Navy, he began his career in Telecommunications in 199 working for Ameritech (Now AT&T Midwest) followed by JDSU (Now Viavi Solutions). His understanding of how to install, test and troubleshoot all fiber-based and copper based services make him a great asset to Utility Sales. Currently he is our Telecom Sales Manager and works to share is expertise with the team.
Nicole joined the team in 2001 and has worked as a CSR Team Member, CSR Manager and is now working as the Company Administrator. “I have always enjoyed a challenge and even after all these years, I am still learning and growing. The best part about working for Utility Sales is their dedication to keep moving forward.”
Shawna Carter joined the customer service team in 2004 bringing with her 10 years of experience in the construction industry. In 2012 Shawna became the Customer Service Manager. “The company has grown since I began working with the company and in that time I have had opportunities to grow along with them personally and professionally. I have appreciate the flexibility and consideration they have shown me over the years.”
USA Account Managers
Before joining Utility Sales Associates in 2011, Lance worked for 10 years as a distributor salesman in the utility industry. Lance’s success in developing and end-user relationships with Power Utility IOUs, Municipalities, Co-Ops, and Utility Contractors has made him a good fit for Utility Sales Associates.
Robb Ziegler graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a business degree in 1996 and jumped right into a career in sales. Prior to joining Utility Sales Associates in 2014, he worked in the industry as a Central Regional Manager for American Polywater Corporation. He enjoys working with customers in multiple markets and helping them to find solutions in conjunction with the manufacturers that we represent.
Prior to joining USA, Jason worked for Martin Underground managing their utility locating services and as a Business Development Manager for 7 years. His has experience in procuring and managing accounts along with managing projects with municipalities, school districts, internet providers, CATV, REC’s, electrical contractors, IOU’s and private and public enterprises
In 1999 Vicki Everett began in the electrical industry and has worked for distribution, contractors, and a rep agency. She joined Utility Sales Associates in 2014 and brings with her 15 years of industry experience mostly working with tools and equipment as it relates to electrical and mechanical contractors. Her industry and market experience make her a natural fit for Utility Sales Associates.
Jennifer Barkalow joined Utility Sales Associates in late 2016. She has 20 years of success in outside sales. Her past experience has been in multiple industries, the most recent being in the industrial/manufacturing vertical. She has always had an emphasis in providing excellent customer service to her customers which have led to lasting relationships. Jennifer is excited about continuing her success and her career with Utility Sales Associates.

Debbie Foster joined Utility Sales in September 2005 from the transportation/logistics Industry bringing her 15 years of experience in development of new and existing business, project and operations management. Her skills organizing and managing details are an asset to Utility Sales. "I enjoy working with a great team that is supportive and all the camaraderie, which makes for a great working environment."
Lydia Lott enjoyed a 20-year sales career in the telecommunications industry before joining Utility Sales Associates in 2016. Her career was spent with ILECs & CLECs selling Dark & Lit Fiber along with voice services. “Helping customers find solutions to their concerns is what makes being in sales so rewarding.”
Cristy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006 from Purdue University. She began her career working in the power utility industry with Salisbury Honeywell for 11 years prior to joining the USA sales team in 2018. Cristy’s background in customer service, product management and marketing communications have made her successful in developing and building end-user relationships with Power Utility IOUs , Municipalities and Utility Contractors.
Chris received his Bachelors in Business from Albion College before beginning his career in Sales. He has shown a great deal of success in sales over multiple industries and plans to continue to grow and develop at Utility Sales. His success is based on his ability to communicate with multiple types of people and problem solving. He joined Utility Sales in August of 2015.
After attending college, Brad began his career in sales. He joined the Utility Sales Team in 2017. He is a natural people person who has been using his skill of connecting with people to increase his sales as well as become a resource to contractors and distributors educating them on new product solutions. “Utility Sales has given me the opportunity to continue to learn new things and grow my skills in the fast paced ever changing industry.”
